"Ballerina" oils on canvas 18" X 24"
A Meeting of the Arts
(after Paul Vincenti's painting "Ballerina")
Her golden bodice whirls amidst the crowd,
A slice of dance within the gallery.
The music in our heads unfolds, out loud.
And, filling canvas for the room to see,
The artist dips his brush and sculpts a line,
Her supple arms, her leotard still wet,
Her arms demurely crossed, her gaze sublime,
Affixed in form for no one to forget.
Behind her, made ethereal and vast,
Orlando forms a soft kaleidoscope,
Her ballet company a sparkling cast,
Their colors turning pirouettes of hope.
She dances through the paint in fluid grace.
The artist's brushes hold and stroke her face.

Originally rendered in oils LIVE at the "Slice" Gallery, in downtown Orlando, part of the City Arts Factory.
Ani is the Ballerina, she was there to promote the Orlando Ballet Company. She liked the piece very much, so I gave it to her. One condition, however- it was a bit too rough for me, so I wanted to clean it up. This is the result.
About 90 minutes of live painting, then about 5 more hours of cleanup (I said it was rough). It has been very rare for me to paint from a live model. Much less in front of a crowd on a busy opening night. I know some of the proportions are off, but the face looks quite a bit like Ani. For that alone, I consider this painting a success!
